Fall Run

Capt. Matt Hoover
October 31, 2013
Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing these past few weeks has been excellent. The fall migration of bait is here and there are fish taking advantage of that situation.
Snook, redfish, trout, jacks, and yes even tarpon are trashing schools of glass minnows and scaled sardines. Netting a well full of bait is a no brainer. Schools of baitfish are along the beaches and are starting to infiltrate select coves in the Ten Thousand Islands.
Snook and redfish are just about everywhere you go. Points and downed bushes are a given. Pick a spot that has some good moving current and give it a try. Larger trout have been staging off the bank where snook like to hang out. Trout are also gathering on the flats of Cape Romano and in the deeper runs along the islands.
I have seen tarpon in some of the major passes working over the schools of mullet that are starting to gather. These fish are running from forty to well over a hundred pounds. A dedicated angler should have no problem getting a hook up.
This is one of the best times of the year to get out and catch a bunch of fish. Give me a call to get in on the action.
