Post Isaac Snook and Redfish

Capt. Matt Hoover
September 7, 2012
Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

After Isaac, bait had all but disappeared. That didn't stop us from throwing popping corks with live shrimp.
I took Steve Sprechman and his daughter Lindsey out for a morning trip. We caught all the players in the ten thousand islands on a slow moving outgoing tide.
Most of the snook were small. Of course snappers had their way with us. Some of them were legal size and on light tackle they are tough out of the gate. Ladyfish kept us entertained. We caught trout as well. When the tide got real low, we scored redfish on the edges of oyster bars.
The bait is starting to return to the beaches and the water temp will start to cool down as we round the corner going into fall. The bait migration will start and things are going to really heat up. I expect the fishing from here on in to be off the hook. Give me a call. The phone is starting to ring.

Target Species:

snook,redfish,trout,tarpon
