Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Winter fishing has been excellent these past few weeks. Sheepshead, redfish, and trout have all been in the mix.
I have been fishing in the deeper runs around south Marco Island and the Ten Thousand Islands. We have been using cut shrimp with a split shot or shrimp tipped jigs. The sheepshead bite has been excellent with quite a few being keeper size. Redfish to twenty inches are all over the place. It has not been uncommon to catch these guys in double digit numbers just by "accident". The water in the islands has been clear so sight fishing for redfish has been excellent.
Trout season opened and it really hasn't been a problem catching your limit on trout over the grass flats and deeper runs along the islands. Did I mention ladyfish? They are of the hook as well. I'll see you on the water.
