Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing this past couple of weeks has been excellent. Redfish, snook, trout, and a few tarpon have been keeping anglers busy.
I have been catching smaller bait along the beaches and a few small bays in the islands. Because the bait is small, I have been having my anglers use popping corks and it has been a deadly combo. Mangrove snapper have been off the hook and it has been no problem getting your limit if so desired.
Redfish have been the big ticket item. Double digit numbers have been the norm on each outing and most of them are in the slot. I have been catching more snook in the Marco area, but the numbers are picking up in the 10k Islands.
We have been starting to catch some line burner jacks. They seem to have been decimated by the freeze the winter before last so it is good to see them return as they are the true backcountry bully.
I have been catching larger trout where snook like to hang out. If you target trout, getting your limit has been no problem.
I have been keeping a couple of larger rods loaded with plugs handy for the occasional large tarpon. It has been a wise choice as we have not been disappointed in the last month.
The fall migration is on its way and fishing will go from excellent to red hot. Give me a ring to book a date. I'll see you on the water.
