Redfish and Tarpon

Capt. Matt Hoover
March 23, 2011
Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing just keeps getting better as Spring progresses. The water temperature keeps creeping into the desired range and baitfish is starting to move into the small bays and coves.
Snook are starting to come out of the woodwork in the south Marco area. If you head towards Naples, it has even been better for snook.
We are starting to get on some big tarpon as well. I expect this week to be perfect for them with the tides getting right for laid up fish.
We are also starting to catch a few jacks. It is nice to see them as they took a real beating with the snook after last years devastating fish kill.

The real heroes have been the redfish. I have been having quite a few double digit days with them and they keep getting bigger. Very nice trout have been in the mix as well. I hope to be concentrating on the big migratory tarpon for the next couple of months. Lets hope that this perfect weather holds. I'll see you on the water.

Target Species:

snook, redfish, trout, and tarpon

More Fishing Reports:

Light Tackle Spinfishing, live bait, artificial and flyfishing. I do it all. Fish for snook, redfish, trout and tarpon in the Marco Island, ten thousand islands and Everglades.
