Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing this past month has been great. Above normal temperatures have kept the actions steady due to the La Nina that we are experiencing. This phenomenon is the counterpart to El Nino and keeps the jet stream and cold arctic air from dipping into our region.
We have been catching plenty of sheepshead mixed in with a few black drum. Both of these fish are excellent to eat. It hasn't been too much of a problem to limit on trout as well.
I have been continuing to do well with redfish and snook in the backcountry using a popping cork and shrimp.
I have spotted a few tarpon here and there so I think that it is time to get ready due to warmer weather circumstances. People ask me " are they early?" I just tell folks that they are right on time according to them. Get reservations in as soon as you can to get in on the early Spring action. I'll see you on the water.

Target Species:

Redfish, snook, trout, tarpon

More Fishing Reports:

Light Tackle Spinfishing, live bait, artificial and flyfishing. I do it all. Fish for snook, redfish, trout and tarpon in the Marco Island, ten thousand islands and Everglades.
