Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing has been fantastic this past month and it seems to be getting better. Redfish are still stealing the show. Snook, trout and yes large tarpon are getting just as much attention.
I have been getting live bait without much fanfare and the redfish have been steady. Getting a limit of slot sized fish has been more the norm than the exception. We have been catching small to medium snook as the days progress. Larger snook have moved into the ten thousand islands and have been busting bait on the outside points. These fish have been ranging up to 30 inches or more.
Trout fishing has been excellent with quite a few fish up to four pounds. These are big trout for our area. They have been hitting live bait under a split shot or just about any of your favorite jigs. I have been getting pompano wherever I fish for trout over hard bottom as well.
I have been doing quite a bit of fly fishing as well and have had great success on redfish and snook. Yesterday we jumped a 120lb tarpon and had a few other shots too.
Tarpon are here and we will be doing a full court press on them with live bait, cut bait, flies and plugs. The big push for tarpon will continue as spring progresses. I still have a few spring dates open and would love to fill them so give me a call and make a date today. I'll see you on the water.
