Report for Naples, Marco Island and the Ten Thousand Islands

Capt. Matt Hoover

Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Summer Sizzle

The fishing this past few weeks has been good to excellent. I have been using larger scaled sardines because the medium sized bait is still growing up along the beaches. As a result, we have been catching medium to larger snook.

Some days are hot, others are not. I have been having really good morning trips with snook up to forty inches. But the next day you may have to run and gun until you find a spot that will work for you. There have been quite a few tarpon around that range in the forty to sixty pound range and we have been catching them on live bait.

The redfish have been spotty but we have been catching a few. Jacks and snapper have been rounding out the day. Early morning trips have been the best. It has been getting very hot by noon and the fishing slows down a bit. From three pm until dark, the pace picks up again.

Summer is a good time to get out as early as possible to do some top water fishing too. Come get some. I’ll see you on the water.
