Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tropical Winds
We had a blast in Costa Rica. We caught and released plenty of triple digit tarpon on fly and conventional gear. Then it was off to Jamaica with my brother Drew. I know I know….yes it is nice but our mother lives there. It just so happens that we go during the Port Antonio International Marlin Tournament. We have been doing real well in that tournament in the past few years in our little boat, but engine problems plagued us this year. It was a tough tourney anyway with tropical storm Noel brewing.
Speaking of Noel, he has been a pain in the butt here back home. When we dare to go out, the winds have been whipping out of the north with gusts to thirty. Coupled with an outgoing tide, the tides have been mighty low. It looks like we have a few more days of the inclement weather.
Shrimp under a popping cork and jigs have been garnishing a few redfish and medium snook. Guides were catching mackerel and bluefish near shore before the blow.
Most of us have been staying in this week and hope to get out soon. I will up date when the dust settles. See you on the water.
