Report for Naples, Marco Island and the Ten Thousand Islands

Capt. Matt Hoover
December 14, 2007
Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hot Bite

Fishing this past week has been excellent. Although the tides were low and made getting around a bit difficult, I found snook in most of the spots that I went to. Live bait is plentiful through out the ten thousand islands.

Snook, jacks, and a few redfish were at many of the spots along oyster bars and islands on the outgoing tide this past week. Small snook to thirty four inches were had on most days. I saw reds tailing along oyster bars this week too. Very low tides and calm water make these fish happy. They didn’t mind biting a Don’s flats jig. I like this jig for very shallow water because it is flat. It worked well for bonefish this past week in the Bahamas too.

We have a front coming, so get out there ASAP…..see you there.

More Fishing Reports:

Light Tackle Spinfishing, live bait, artificial and flyfishing. I do it all. Fish for snook, redfish, trout and tarpon in the Marco Island, ten thousand islands and Everglades.
