Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report
The fall migration is on. Baitfish are everywhere. They along the beaches and smaller varieties are sizzling on the points of islands. Mackerel and bonito are near shore and are a blast if you get on them.
Small, medium , and a few larger snook can be had by fishing points and downed structure along the mangrove shorelines. Jacks, snapper, ladyfish, and mackerel fill in as an extra sideshow. There are a few big tarpon out there for the dedicated.
The real star are the redfish. They are starting to school up. Small to oversized redfish have been stealing the show. Double digit days are in order if you fish oyster bars and points of interest.
I had newlyweds Chris and Sarah Buggie out and the full moon and lower tides had me running and gunning. When the tide came in, outside, hard bottom points paid off big time. We caught small snook, jacks, and plenty of redfish. Live bait under popping corks worked real well. You can do some real damage right now throwing jigs and soft plastics as well.
