Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing this past week has been excellent. There is bait everywhere and the fish have been following it and gorging themselves in preparation for winter.
I had a super week fishing for snook and everything else that bites. Snook have been around the south Marco area on points and your usual snook haunts. The numbers were average but the overall size of the fish were in the 25 to 30 inch range. We are catching quite a few juvenile redfish in most of our spots. There have been a few slot fish caught this week as well.
Trout, pompano, ladyfish, and mackerel have been in the passes in good numbers. I have been getting them on regular quarter ounce tube jigs.
Working on an anonymous tip, I hustled to the boat ramp and got some crabs. There were permit in good numbers near shore and we went after them this week. It is exciting because they were up on the surface in eight feet of water finning. You could actually sight fish for them.
Fishing has been excellent. It won't be long before we switch gears for the winter. Give me a call. I'll see you on the water.
