Tarpon

Capt. Matt Hoover
May 16, 2011
Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing this past month has been demanding to excellent. By that I mean that we have had several cold fronts come through Florida. Yes, they are the same ones that have been causing floods and tornados elsewhere. The heavy winds can make fishing difficult.

Snook and redfish have been staging around the middle and outside islands. Clients have been catching more snook in the south Marco area on live bait. Clients have also been catching them on flies as well.

We have been spending quite a bit of time chasing tarpon this past month as well. They have been in the passes, bays, and offshore as well. Live bait, cut bait, lures, and flies have all been very effective this year. We just had one heck of a blow with this latest cold front. It's time to get back out there and see if we still have some tarpon in the area. I'll see you on the water.

Target Species:

Snook,redfish,trout,tarpon

More Fishing Reports:

Light Tackle Spinfishing, live bait, artificial and flyfishing. I do it all. Fish for snook, redfish, trout and tarpon in the Marco Island, ten thousand islands and Everglades.
