Trout Fest

Capt. Matt Hoover
March 10, 2010
Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Temperatures are on the rise. I am down to one layer instead of three in the morning. Fishing this past week improved. I had some good days with sheepshead and black drum. It is still a little cool to slam snook but they are out there if you want to give them a shot.

Trout fishing was very goodfor me this past week as well. We caught plenty of fish that were of legal size.I have been taking them on quarter ounce jigs with a Hybrid fish body. Ilike this soft plastic because it works well for snook and redfish too.

Ladyfish have been coming out of the woodwork too. A few Spanish mackerel have been hitting the jigs also. All of this is good news as it seems that winter is losing its grip in our area. If the water temperature remains on the rise, it won't take long for all hell to break lose and we can change tactics. Spring dates are starting to fill up fast so call me for your reservation. I'll see you on the water.

Target Species:

snook, redfish, trout, tarpon

More Fishing Reports:

Light Tackle Spinfishing, live bait, artificial and flyfishing. I do it all. Fish for snook, redfish, trout and tarpon in the Marco Island, ten thousand islands and Everglades.
