25 May 2017 Windy days and a short report

Matlacha - Saltwater Fishing Report

Windy days and a short report
This has been one heck of a windy month! Lost track of how many offshore trips I had to turn into inshore trips and the onshore trips into backwater trips just to hide from the wind. With that being said,
Fishing is awesome! With the exception of about 3 days my clients have been on fire catching everything from Reds, snook, huge snappers, and trout inshore to Permit, macks, out of season grouper and snapper offshore.
Tarpon are here and eating on the calmer days. Pass crabs, white bait and pins have been the ticket when I do get them to bite. Early morning or evenings bites are the best.
Now that the water temp is in the 80's the reds and snapper are headed for the shade and it will take a great cast to get it up under the mangroves to get the bite. My favorite cut bait seems to be working less than live and cut pins or white bait as of the last week and a half.
Sharks are everywhere! Catfish are everywhere and if they are there MOVE.
Last night I saw the report of a capsized boat in Charlotte Harbor. Why would somebody go out in yesterday's weather? 30+ mile an hour winds. Stay safe and be smart out there. Afternoon storms will be more and more prevalent as summer progresses on so get off the water or get to a dock until it passes.
Guiding season is slowing so I am more available for short notice trips and taking local veterans fishing. If you know of any service members returning from theater and vacationing down here send them my way for a free trip. Must prove they just returned and active duty and it is only the Veteran not the whole family and friends or that is a charged trip with a huge military discount.

Check out and like my Facebook https://www.facebook.com/jimbocharters/ and Instagram #jimboscharters page for recent pictures and trips. If you're ready to go fishing give me a call to plan your trip so we can try and catch the tides right. If you're a Veteran with proof I have the best prices around and I guarantee it. I'm also on Facebook at Jimbo's Charters where I post pictures if my clients let me and my website www.Jimboscharters.com
