Matlacha - Saltwater Fishing Report

This last week I've done a lot of fishing from the back country to near shore to pine island sound and Charlotte harbor and have caught plenty of a variety of fish. The waters are finally starting to drop a little bit. Yesterday the water temps averaged 83.3F everywhere I went give a 10th + -. Bait pods are plentiful to throw your cast net and stock up in one throw. I've been using threadfins and pinfish to catch everything these last several weeks. For clues on where to fish make sure your fishing with a good moving tide and on the higher tides I've been hitting under the mangroves for snook and reds and on the beginning and ending of the ebb and flow I fish the flats. Now that the days are getting windier make sure to use the wind to your advantage. When the tides are slow a good wind can keep the bite going. Start with where you normally fish and which direction the wind comes from that makes it a good time to fish that area. One day an area is on fire due to a certain wind direction and wind and opposite wind the place doesn't produce. Gator trout are in as well as upper slot reds with a good showing of bull reds when you find the right schools. Earlier this week I went out with a close friend and my son we were catching keeper gag grouper in only feet of water inshore. . Like and share my Facebook page and see all the latest pics and information on Jimbo's Charters.
If you're ready to go fishing give me a call to plan your trip so we can try and catch the tides right. As I do cater to the Veteran community, if you're a Veteran with proof I have the best prices around and I guarantee it. I'm also on Facebook at Jimbo's Charters.
