21 Nov 2014 Reds are plentiful in Matlacha

Matlacha - Saltwater Fishing Report

21 Nov 2014
Reds are plentiful in Matlacha. The weatherman definitely had the forecast wrong today. I was expecting for a nice warm up to 78 deg and that didn't happen by a long shot nor was the rain expected. But regardless I was out fishing with Wounded Warrior Angler member Daniel and we had a great time besides the light chill in the bones. Headed out of Matlacha Park around 7: 45 at low tide and headed N to catch our bait found nice size pins just past the manatee zone and had a couple of mullet to go along then we searched for signs of life out on the skinny flats. After about 20 min of searching we found some mullet and set up following them then posting in front and it was game on. Just like my last report casting behind the mullet was the trick. First cast landed 32" Red then a 24 followed by a 27 then it died down. After finding another school we repeated the pattern and landed 24" and a 22" with a couple of break offs in between.
The water temp was down to 61 when we started and 64.4 when we finished and with the rain coming down we decided to call it quits. With the colder water the Reds were biting really soft feeling like small catfish hitting your line. Just let them take a lil more line and they would slowly hook themselves.
Tight Lines
If you're ready to go fishing give me a call to plan your trip so we can try and catch the tides right.
