Matlacha - Saltwater Fishing Report

12 Nov 14
Reds, Reds and more Reds. Went fishing today with Veterans Jeremy and Tim of Wounded Warrior Anglers out of Matlacha Park. Started out heading North out of Matlacha getting bait up on the flats and catching the bait took entirely too long trying to get white bait (which has made themselves scarce in the last week) but ended up with quite a few good pinfish and mullet. Afterwards started looking for the Snook on the outlets of creeks only to find we were a little late and the tide was already too far out. Then we set our sights on the Reds. And a lot of Reds we found out on the flats. So we baited up with pinfish, cut pins, white bait and mullet to find out the Reds wanted mullet today. Within minutes we had reds all around the boat and were reeling them in. Had 6 Reds 22-25 inches within 30 minutes. And then had to chase the school around to grab a couple more before the tide was too low.
With the lower water temps as of late the Reds are coming into the shallow waters and warming up and following the schools of mullet. Today all we did was find the mullet and cast behind them and it was game on.
Tight Lines
If you're ready to go fishing give me a call to plan your trip so we can try and catch the tides right.
