Matlacha - Saltwater Fishing Report

January 30th I got the pleasure with taking out Tammy, Brandon and George from Illinois. This was their first time fishing in our Southwest Florida waters. With a little joking around at the dock I believe I put a little jinks on Tammy. The guys told me she was normally the one that caught all the fish so I said I was going to nick her fishing line so she didnt catch anything. I'm beginning to think the fish hear me with my little jokes. We pulled up to the first spot of our half day trip and go figure got skunked. I pulled anchor and headed across Matlacha pass to some fish I have been working. It was a couple minutes when George decided he was going to play it out with a nice upper slot redfish. I must have given George Tammys rod "lol" because as I went for the net his redfish broke the line. George was not to be outdone landing his first ever snook. Brandon had his hands full with a hungry 32 1/2 female peeling out some line and making the turn and wrapping the trolling motor. With a little finesse she was in the net. We teased Tammy asking if she was going to catch a fish or not when lady luck turned to her as she boated two snook in a row. The water turned to coffee color shortly after and Brandon finished the day off with a great catfish bite "lol" Great job gang!!! I hope you enjoyed your day with me.
