Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
Fishing continues to be good to excellent especially when all of the ingredients are present. Clean blue water combined with a nice northbound current is essential to a successful day of fishing. It seems like just after every cold front the sailfish bite takes off and then slowly tapers off.
On my last two trips I had customers with very different requests. The first, Lance Benson wanted to try his hand at offshore fly fishing. We discussed the possibilites and the game plan was put to the test. We ended the day catching about a dozed jacks and a bonito. We also missed a couple of strikes from cero mackerel. Now, Lance can't wait to do it again. Perhaps our next trip will take place in May when the dolphin (mahi mahi) show up.
My second trip consisted of the Eric and his father Burt. Both of them had their sites set on sailfish. After loading the livewell with frisky baits we headed out in search of clean blue water. Unfortunately the clean water and nice current were missing. We still gave it 100 percent but I guess it wasn't meant to be. The pair ended the day with a couple of muttons and a bonito. Hopefully we will fish again next year because these guys were a real class act.

Miami Fishing Forecast:
Sailfishing will continue for at least the next couple of months. Along with the sailfish there will be plenty of dolphin and kingfish caught to keep thing interesting. April usually means "smoker" kingfish and looking ahead to May will bring some very large dolphin.
