Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing Report
With the winds blowing outside my window I have a chance to sit down and write a report about our past fishing exploits. I have had a couple of trips on the reef and the fishing has been rather good for the month of August. The bottom fish have cooperated in a big way. We have caught muttons up to 12#, groupers and amberjacks. The surprise catch of the week was a very respectable 38# wahoo that cut us off on one line then proceeded to go and eat the other 2 lines we had out, unfortunately for him those 2 rods had wire leaders on them. Can you say wahoo steaks for dinner.
In addition to the bottom fish we have also caught some kingfish. But in order to catch those kings we have had to work our way thru several bonitos. Although the bonitos are great action on the rods they are terrible on the diner plate and therefore were released to fight another day. What I haven't seen around have been the sailfish. I have not caught one on our last couple of trips and this is normal given the time of year. But as we start to head into the fall that will only start to improve.
Now for the update on the new boat. SeaVee has started the new boat and should be finished approximately in or around the end of November. I should have some pictures by next report so stay tuned. Well that is all for now till next time
Best of Luck...
