Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

With the change in temperature comes a change in the fishing. Fall fishing is in full force and the fishing has been good. Mullet schools have been roaming the beaches from Miami to Palm Beach and the results have been nothing short of fantastic. We have caught everything from tarpon to mackerel and everything in between while fishing these mullet schools.
The tarpon have been crashing these schools and putting on quite a show. Add in sharks and other game fish and you can start to figure out where to find the action. On the offshore side things have also been pretty good. I have had good action on mahi-mahi. A number of hurricanes in the Atlantic have deposited a good amount of debris in the gulfstream which has brought some mahi into our area. A welcome surprise is that the fish have been on the larger size.
The bottom fishing has slowed a little bit. We have caught some mutton snapper but not in the numbers that I am accustomed to. We shall see if the grouper make up for the lack of a bottom bite.
On the positive side this sailfish season looks to be shaping up rather well. We have caught sailfish this month and that should only improve as we start to head into our prime sailfish winter months. In addition to the sailfish the kingfish have saved the day on several outings. The kingfish action has been very good. Although we have not caught any smoker kings we did land some 20 plus pound kings and many smaller teenage kingfish. What the fish have lacked in size they have made up with in numbers.
Well that is what has taken place on the "Lucky Vee" and the great thing is that this action should only get better as the year continues. As the waters and the temperatures to the north of us cool down everyone and everything likes to vacation in Miami Beach including the fish. I already have several dates booked in December so if you want to get in on the action give me a call and let's go fishin'. Till next time.
Best of Luck…
