Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
}The Spring fishing in South Florida continues to heat up in all of the areas that I fish.
North Bay has had a lot of snook action with as many as 14 snook to 28 inches being caught in a single day. Almost all of the snook that my clients have caught recently were released to fight another day and that included two fish over 17 pounds and another that was 13 pounds. These fish were caught using light tackle and live baits. To add to that big schools of mullet have migrated into North Bay and snook, tarpon, jacks and big spawning sea trout are feeding on these mullet.
South Bay has slowed a lot since the water temperatures have raised but there are bonefish, permits, tarpon, sharks and barracudas to target if that is something that interests you. My boat is a bit big for this fishing but with a person or two onboard and the right conditions it can be done.
Offshore fishing has been very good with lots of small to medium size blackfin tuna being caught offshore. Mixed in with the tunas have been sailfish, kingfish, bonitos and a few wahoo and the first signs of dolphins.
Flamingo in Everglades National Park has gone through some changes but with calming conditions large sea trout, pre spawning snook, redfish, migrating tarpon, tripletail, sharks, jacks, ladyfish, snappers and cobia are waiting to be caught by you.
Largemouth bass fishing last year was great this month and next but due to high water levels the bass are still up on the flats where they are tough to get to. These conditions are changing as we speak so the bass fishing could take off any day.
Calmer weather is forecasted for the future so let's go fishing!

Spring is here and the fishing in South Florida is about to explode. With water temperatures rising sea trout and snook will start their spawning seasons. Bigger fish and bigger numbers of fish! Spanish mackerel, bluefish and kingfish are heading north for the summer. As they pass the Miami area they always provide a months' worth of action. Big jack crevalles will be chasing baitfish schools in North Bay and big tarpon will be stealing baits intended for other fish. Offshore we will see kingfish and Spanish mackerel, bonitos, sailfish, dolphins and blackfin tuna feeding right alongside each other. In Flamingo in Everglades National Park the birds will be leaving but the scenery will always be there and there is always the unbelievable sunrise and sunset pictures. Fishing for snook, redfish, snapper, sea trout, tarpon, jacks ladyfish, sharks, tripletail, cobia and more will be as exciting light tackle fishing as one could wish for.
