Good fishing in not so good weather

Capt. Jim Hale
June 21, 2012
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Despite the rain and wind we are catching plenty of Trout and Redfish on the west coast of Florida out of Flamingo and north of Shark River.
Yesterdays catch were 30 + Trout and 11 Redfish with some at Trout at 24 inches and the largest Red was 29 inch but most of the Reds were around 20 inches. The Trout and Reds were caught on jigs tipped with shrimp reeled in slowly on the bottom. Also in the catch were unlimited Jacks and Ladyfish.
One tip is when you find sharks close to creek mouths the Reds are not far away.
The only problem is the sharks try to eat your catch before you can boat them, So
if I see sharks making a pass at a Red that I stop fishing and just move to another area.
In 1 creek mouth we landed 3 nice Snook using pinfish fished along shallow mangrove roots on the outgoing tide, the larger Snook was 31 inches.
Rod bending action all day for the most part.
Fishing close to Miami for Tarpon has stopped because of the high winds and bad weather but never the less there is good fishing here in some not so nice weather, you just might have to put on a rain jacket from time to time.

Good luck
Capt. Jim Hale
