Flurry of Dolphin Activity
Capt. John Barker
July 16, 2015
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
A visiting family from Romania, via Boston, booked the boat for a morning excursion on the waters of Miami, FL. The father wanted the children to experience some deep sea fishing action. Capt. John started on the third reef with planner, wire line and baits out trolling. Surprisingly, there were no bites. So, the crew changed over the spread and offshore they went. Their efforts were soon rewarded when two gaffer sized dolphin attacked the baits at the same time. After many years on water, it's still exciting to see the amount of chaos a flurry of dolphin (mahi-mahi) activity can produce in the cockpit of the boat. Both children captured nice size fish and released several more that were undersized.
