Kingfish and Tile Fish

Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

It was a sunny and calm afternoon and we were booked to entertain several young first time anglers. We could find any bait at the bent range marker and went ahead offshore. Things weren't much better because there was no current, so we got on the troll.
As soon as the spread was out, the planner rod cracked with a nice 20 pound kingfish. The little lady pictured turned the handle on the Penn 10/0 until the planner was retrieved. The kingfish was gaffed and in came the fish. At first, the young lady was frightened by the size of the fish but eventually her brother and she posed for a picture with it.

That was the only bite trolling so the crew slid out to 610' and dropped a multi-baited "chicken" rig. The fish were small and hard to keep on the line but finally one golden tile fish was boated.
