Mahi and Assorted Snappers

Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well, we survived the post Irma doldrums and the fishing has been good.
Right after the storm the mahi were big and thick, now they are good sized but inconsistent. Yesterday morning, we caught 10 real quick and then nothing.
We got off to a bad start with two big amberjacks stolen by sharks.

Yesterday afternoon was a good indication of how the bottom fish have been. We caught 23 assorted snappers in two hours. Of course using the Hooker Electric drives on our Penn International 16s helped a lot.

We have had some nice mutton snappers and black groupers lately as well.

We finally got out for swordfish this week and caught swordfish 51 and 66 inch fork lengths on two consecutive drops and a squid earlier.

The inlet has been good. We missed the whole mullet run, but caught some good snook since the storm past. We took some kids in the bay and rocked the snapper action.

Look for sailfish to show up in early November along with groupers on the shallow reefs. Shrimp and Tarpon should show up with Spanish mackerel as well.
