Merry Christmas

Capt. Dean Panos
December 24, 2019
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Merry Christmas everyone.
I hope everyone enjoys the holidays and everyone gets to go fishing during the holiday break. We are almost completely full for our trips around the holidays. The only date we have open is Dec 31st open so if anyone is interested in that date please give me a call.

The fishing was slow last week but it has definitely picked up in the past few days. The sailfish are starting to show up. Yesterday we fished and had a good day. It started slow with the rain, but once the rain quit, the fishing picked up. We caught some decent kingfish in the morning and once the weather cleared the sailfishing got good. We ended up catching 4 out of 5 sails in the afternoon and everyone had a great time. Even after all these years it is still a thrill to catch sailfish!

Swordfishing has been a bit of a hit or miss. The swordfish are definitely here but there a lot of squid around. When the squid are thick, it makes it difficult to hook a swordfish. The squid latch onto your bait and make the baits spin and look unnatural. The key is to find an area where the squid aren't that thick. The same thing happened last year and by January the squid were gone and the swordfishing really got good. We are hoping for the same this year.
The wahoo fishing in Bimini is also pretty good. The reports I have gotten are all good and that bodes well since we are going over for a few days in between Christmas and New Years.
We have also put a booking calendar on the website so you can look at the dates available and book directly online. You can always call or email me for info on dates as well.
I look forward to 2020.It's going to be great year and we have bookings already into May. Now is the time to look at your travel plans and get your trips booked for the winter sailfish season.
