Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Our first decent cold front has finally arrived. A 25 degree drop in the temperatures we normally have has us bundled up. This will definitely kick the fishing to another level.
Before the cold front, kingfish, amberjack, bonito, and throw in a few dolphin have been the go to fish on the reef. Inshore, the tarpon have shown up and are feeding on shrimp. Throw in a variety of other fish while waiting for a tarpon strike and it's well worth getting out in the evening and enjoying the action.
A 3/4 day trip with Brad resulted in 5 kingfish and a bonito. We released all the kingfish except one for dinner.
Brent and Jerod fished an evening tarpon trip. We started with a bonnethead shark, then a ladyfish, followed by a mangrove snapper. I was marking tarpon most of the evening on the side scan. Finally at 5 minutes before time to end the trip, we got our first tarpon hit. The fish made a short run, jumped, and threw the hook. About 20 seconds later, the second rod got hit. This time it was a solid hook up. After a 25 minute battle, Brent released his first tarpon. The 90 pound tarpon gave him all he could ask for and much more.
The next morning, Brent and Jerod were at it again with a 3/4 day offshore trip. We caught 5 kingfish and kept our limit of 4. We also added an amberjack and large yellow jack to round out the catch.
Nick and Darrell put on their Viking faces to brave the SSE/S wind @ 18 - 21 knots on their 1/2 day trip. By the end of the morning we had dolphin and kingfish for dinner and a bonito for sport.
