Mild Conditions in South Florida and Great Fishing

Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

South Florida has been blessed with some very mild weather and fishing conditions these past few weeks. While our friends and family members all over the country are experiencing some very harsh weather we are enjoying some great fishing under clear sunny skies. These mild conditions have allowed my clients and me to fish some areas that I have wanted to target for some time. The Patch Reefs offshore of Key Biscayne!
Working these Patch Reefs with live baits and artificial lures my clients have been having excellent action from large cero mackerel, Spanish mackerel, loads of bluerunners, bonnethead sharks, Caribbean reef sharks, mangrove, mutton and yellowtail snappers, gag, black, Nassau and red groupers, grunts, senates and a few other species. All of this action is taking place in less than 20 feet of water and on light tackle.

In the Bay we are catching sea trout to 22 inches, bluefish, barracudas, ladyfish, a really nice flounder and a few snook and jacks.

I had a South Bay charter where my clients wanted to throw artificial lures at barracudas. We found all the barracudas we wanted and released close to 10 cudas to eight pounds plus a nice yellowjack. We had shots at many cudas over 15 pounds and plus a few shots at permits.

The Finger Channels in South Bay have been fair one day and fish less the next.

Offshore we have had some action from Spanish and king mackerel plus a few bonitos. There has been some sailfish action and a few nice dolphins around.
I have not had any Flamingo charters recently but the reports that I am getting is that there are snook, redfish, sea trout, tarpon, tripletail, cobia, bluefish and mackerel biting on a daily basis.
