Miami, Florida - Offshore

Capt. Mark Houghtaling
May 9, 2001
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

... Those captains and anglers that did brave the rough sea conditions and rain found consistent action. Sailfsh were caught along the edge from Pacific Light to the Miami Sea Buoy in a 120 to 170 feet of water. Small dolphin between 2 and 4 pound were caught as well. Blackfin Tuna are still being caught and nice size King Mackerel up to 47 pounds are being caught off Key Biscayne. Several nice size dolphin up to 38 pounds were caught during the Homestead Kiwanis Tournament down south between the Whistle Buoy off Ocean Reef to Molasses. While most captains were secretive about location, some ventured as far as 20 miles offshore to get the big ones. Look for Mutton Snapper fishing to improve on the deeper wrecks and reefs as we approach the spawn with the full moon. See ya on the rip!
