Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Surprisingly, a fair amount of dolphin showed up this week. Anglers fishing offshore Miami, have been catching the fish under diving birds in about 1000 to 1300 feet of water. Captains also found the fish under floating debris. A few reports coming in stated that the fish were not eating well, but on Thursday, we had no trouble getting the fish to hit small live baits as well as chunk bait. Along the edge of the stream, Captain Bouncer Smith found the sailfishing to be quite good. He caught four out of five fish during the morning. Not bad for fishing in July ! Loads of bonita have been cruising the edge and can be caught on live baits as well as trolled baits. The bottom bite has been good in the early morning hours. Mutton snapper have been found on the offshore wrecks and can be caught on live baits. Live pinfish work wonders. This upcoming full moon should have the Mangrove Snapper biting furiously during the night time hours. And don’t forget the Cubera Snapper. They should also be on the bite, but will be found in deeper water. The area off the Whistle Buoy off Key Largo will harvest the majority of the fish.
