Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
We’ll its good to be back on the deep sea waters again. I splashed my new 31 ft Contender last week and had my first trip. After a long morning with no action, we did finally find some large mats of weed fifteen miles offshore ( thanks to Rich,) and we caught a 35 pound dolphin and about a half dozen schoolies. Thats the way to break her in!
This week we fished along the edge in the area of Triumph Reef. There was a light current to the north at about .7 knots , fairly clean water and enough breeze to keep the kites flying. We had good action on dolphin when we drifted into 120 feet of water. The total for the day was 10 dolphin, 1 red grouper, 1 mutton, 1 kingfish, 1 cero mackerel, 1 bonita, one yellow jack. In the afternoon we chummed hard with live pilchards for sailfish but couldn’t raise one. Most of the anglers I spoke with said their action was slow. For the most part the water has been dirty and the action on the slow side. It looked like the water has been cleaning up this week. Better fishing should be had this week. Happy Thanksgiving…stay hooked!
