Miami Fishing Report: Key Biscayne to Triumph Reef

Capt. Orlando Muniz
November 12, 2007
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

November Fishing

So far the month of November has been a roller coaster ride. Last week fishing was fishing was very hot with many sailfish and dolphin (mahi-mahi) thrown in for good measure. Several kingfish were also being caught to finish off a nice mixed bag. Most of the boats have already switched to the usual winter time tactics that center around kite fishing. Bait has been generally easy to locate and catch on most trips. Most of the bait being used consists of live pilchards or herring.

Fishing should continue to improve as more and more cold fronts push toward the South bringing with them a pile of fish. Action will continue to rise and fall as the conditions change with the best fishing usually occurring right after a passing front. Over the next few months many tournaments will take place in South Florida with sails being the primary target. Thanks to conservation efforts such as the catch and release of nearly 100% and the use of circle hooks sailfish catches are reaching an all time high. Another reason for this great fishery has been the development of highly effective techniques by many of the areas top fisherman.

If you're interested in getting in on the winter action, or would just like more information you can contact me anytime. Below, I have posted some pictures of the recent action.

Tight Lines,

Capt. Orlando Muniz
