North Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

Capt. Alan Sherman
November 30, 2005
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing North Biscayne Bay

with Capt. Alan Sherman

Hi everyone! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! If you haven’t been fishing with me for a while then you have missed out on some spectacular fishing here in South Florida inshore and offshore. With the cooler temperatures both our residential fish and migratory fish have been biting great. Spanish mackerel has been the main focus recently because of the large numbers and the size of the fish. The past month has seen catches of over 30 Spanish mackerel to six pounds in 4 hours of fishing and along with the mackerel have been small king mackerel, loads of jack crevalles, ladyfish, bluefish, small amberjacks and a few snappers to boot. All of this action has taken place in the bay or just offshore when the winds haven’t been too strong. Inside North Biscayne Bay we are catching plenty of sea trout, jack crevalles, ladyfish and barracudas. Some large tarpon have taken us by surprise by taking baits not intended for them These fish over 60 pounds have given us a few spectacular jumps before the light line parted. A few snook have been seen but as of now they have avoided being caught by my anglers. On the calmer days in between the cold fronts I have been able to get my new Pathfinder Bay Boat out into the ocean where larger king mackerel and dolphin have eagerly taken our baits. As of this report we have not landed our first sailfish on the new “Get Em” but that will happen soon enough.

I still have scattered opened dates for the month of December and January. Remember a fishing trip on the “Get Em” makes an unforgettable holiday gift. Give me a call and reserve a date for yourself or a business associate or purchase a gift certificate for that special fishing person in your life.

Catch me along with Capt. Jim Anson, Capt Pete Silot and Rick Berry of Key Largo Rods on Florida Sportsman Magazines Live Radio Show every Saturday morning on WKAT 1360 AM or through their web site on www.1360wkat.com and here our action spotters fill us in on what’s biting in South Florida.
