North Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

Capt. Alan Sherman
December 22, 2005
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

FISHING NORTH BISCAYNE BAY

with CAPT. ALAN SHERMAN

Sorry I haven't updated this report in sometime but I have been very busy with charters for the past few weeks. Fishing in the bay has taken a back seat to fishing just offshore from Bakers Haulover to Gov. Cut. Spanish mackerel fishing hasn't been this good since the 70's. Normally by this time of the year most of the Spanish mackerel have moved south by now but this year the mackerel just keep coming and coming. Catches of over 30 fish in a 4 hour span and up to 6 pounds has been common. Juvenile king mackerel and bluefish have been mixed in with the mackerel. All it has taken is a bag of Mark's chum and a live well of live pilchards and you are set for the day. Off shore there has been so many schools of baby sardines with bonitas, king mackerel and Spanish mackerel feeding on them. Fishing on the grass flats has had great action on sea trout for catch and release.

Happy Holidays and a Very Safe New Year!
