North Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

Capt. Alan Sherman
April 20, 2006
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing North Biscayne Bay, South Biscayne Bay, Offshore and Flamingo in Everglades National Park

with Capt. Alan Sherman

Spring! Wow! What’s a fisherman to do with all of the fish available in South Florida and the mild conditions that we will continue to have for the next month or so before temperatures start to get a little uncomfortable? Well here’s what you do! Grab the phone or you computer and drop me a line and set up a fishing trip and take advantage of the great fishing for spawning sea trout that will hit the scales at 3 to 6 pounds, snook, tarpon, barracuda, bluefish, pompano, Spanish and king mackerel, jack crevalles over 10 pounds and ladyfish and that’s just in North Biscayne Bay. Head offshore and now we are talking king mackerel to 50 pounds, Spanish mackerel to 8 lbs., bluefish, sailfish, dolphin to 50 pounds, blackfin tuna, bonito and wahoo. Head on down to Flamingo in Everglades National Park and you’re looking at great fishing for snook, tarpon, redfish, spawning sea trout, tripletail, cobia and sharks. For the next two months loads of mullet and baitfish will migrate north for the summer and these baitfish will be followed by all of the predators I have just mentioned. There is only one other time of the year when the fishing is as good or better and that is in the fall when the fall migration takes place. If you missed out on the fall migration then this is your chance to get in on the great fishing.
