North Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

Capt. Alan Sherman
February 7, 2007
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Last weeks weather was just what South Florida needed to get our fishing more in line with what it should be like in February. The little cold spell that brought some much needed rain and lower water temperatures sparked a good shrimp run in the bay and that got the attention of the Spanish mackerel, tarpon, jack crevalles, ladyfish, snapper, grouper, sea trout and snook. This past week saw good tarpon action in Government Cut, lots of sea trout to 3 pounds over the grass flats a few pompano. Spanish mackerel, gag, red and black grouper plus jacks to 13 pounds.

Offshore fishing has been real good for sailfish especially when the wind has been in a northerly direction. King mackerel to 30 pounds, wahoo and dolphin to 10 pounds have been available as well.

Fishing in Flamingo has been the hot spot for bay fishermen with non stop action on Spanish mackerel, bluefish, jacks, ladyfish, sharks a few pompano, tripletail and cobia and for those looking to catch snook, redfish, black drum and sheepshead any shoreline along the Gulf that has a current flow and some depth has produced well.

I apologize for the short reports but I find myself writing more and more fishing reports as each month goes by.
