Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Today I traveled north to St. Lucie Inlet to do some snook fishing. We used greenies (threadfin herring) for bait. As soon as the sun popped up above the horizon, the bait showed up in massive quantities. It took just 10 minutes to catch 4 dozen baits and that included time spent untangling a sabiki rig.

We were anchored up and fishing by 7:30 am. It only took about 5 minutes for the action to start and it was steady for the next 2 hours. Some of our bait died and we tried using them on a sinker rig. The snook didn't mind and continued eating them. We tried cutting the baits in half to give ourselves more shots and the snook didn't mind that either. After 2 hours we were out of bait and called it a morning due to other commitments. The sum total of our catch for the 2 hours was 20 snook released in the 22" - 34" range and an unknown number of missed hook ups.
