Fishing Report for Miami, Florida

Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
Swordfishing continued to dominate the angling most of this week. We caught and released a 70
pounder on 30 pound tackle on a squid Sunday night and then just as we prepared to call it a
night, we had a blasting strike on a live blue runner on 80 pound tackle. 2 hours and 40 minutes
latter we boated a 160 pound beauty of a swordfish.
Monday night we planned on snook fishing, but a 1 hour fight with a 100 pound tarpon took up
most of the prime tide. We got (1) 27 inch snook be fore the tide and fishing died for the
evening.
Wednesday it was back to the swords. We caught and released swordfish of 60 and 70 pounds
and lost another before 8:30. Then for 4 hours we fished without a bite. It was a fast evening and
then a long wait before calling it over.
Between the boat show and a major birthday party, we did not get back on the water till
Monday. It was worth the wait as we caught and released 2 sailfish, a king mackerel and a shark,
plus keeping 2) 12 pound dolphin, 2 king mackerel and a 25 pound wahoo for a few dinners for
all of us on the trip.
With cooling water look for a lot more sailfish and dolphin closer to shore. The mackerel are
biting near shore all along the coast, and that means great light tackle action for all ages.
Remember to release some for the future, Bouncer’s Dusky 33
