Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Double D Charters
2//04
When the conditions are right, fishing can be very good. This past week, we had one of our slowest days of the year (0 for 2 on the sails and no other bites) and one of the best days of the year (13 for 15 on the sails and 7 dolphin).
Today, the conditions were right. We had a North wind, North current and blue water on the edge. We started out fishing below Fowey Light, and within 10 minutes we had a triple-header of sails on, and we landed all three. The rest of the day went with quite a few doubles and singles on sails, and 7 dolphin. We ended the day catching 13 sailfish out of 15 hookups. The sailfish were spread out amongst the kite baits as well as the flatlines. We fished gogs, tinkers, pilchards and herring. It was definitely a busy and long day.
The rest of the week, we have been averaging anywhere from 2 to 5 sailfish per day. We have been so busy fishing basically every day, that I haven’t had the chance to go swordfishing at all this week. From what I have heard from my sword buddies, is that the bite was good early in the week. I have two sword trips planned this week, as well as every day booked for sailfish, so we should have a good report next week as well.
Now is the time to book those trips. My next opening is not until the end of February, so reserve your date early and lets go get them!
