Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
My long trip from the Bahamas is over. We had a great time and caught lots of fish with some of my best customers. I spent a little less than two and a half weeks in the Bahamas and targeted yellowfin tuna, big dolphin, trolled for blue marlin and also did a little bit of bottom fishing. For the tunas, we caught plenty of yellowfins from 30 to 70 pounds and a few blackfins. We also caught quite a few big dolphin. All of the dolphin we caught were from 20 pounds to 35 pounds. We trolled big lures for a blue marlin a few days. We had one blue pull the lure out of the rigger clip but didn’t stay on and had another blue turn on a lure but faded away. We also did some bottom fishing one night and had some luck with mutton snappers and yellowtails.
Its good to be back to U.S. but I already miss the hospitality and the laid back approach of the Bahamas. We made a lot of friends there. I did this trip last year and this year I extended it for a bit more time. I plan on repeating it for many years to come.
I still have a few more trips planned for Bimini this year and have quite a few dates open for others interested in these types of trips. The swordfish bite has finally turned on a bit, so we are also ready to tackle some of these gladiators this summer. My customer that used to fish most of the swordfish tournaments with us last year (We got at least 3rd place in every tournament we fished but one), will not be able to compete in the tournament trail this year. This means I have open dates for the Islamorada Swordfish Tournament in August, the Miami Swordfish Tournament in September as well as some of the smaller one day tournaments out of Miami-Fort Lauderdale.
So whether it is fishing in the Bahamas, swordfishing off of Miami or day fishing for dolphin, kings, etc. off the edge, give me a call and let’s set it up before the summer is over!
