Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
This week brought very good dolphin fishing. The boats that ventured offshore did very well. The boats that did well were finding dolphin by "run and gun". This method of fishing involves running your boat above planing speed (not trolling) and looking for weeds, birds, debris, or other possibilities of finding dolphin. Although there may be days when you may be simply running around the ocean without finding anything, this week was not one of them. Once you locate weeds, debris or birds, slow down and pitch out a live bait. If you have a well full, pitch out a handful. If the dolphin are near, they will make their appearance almost instantly. Most boats limited out by mid day.
As the wind increased towards the weekend, many boats stayed on the reef. This was also productive. The days we fished the edge, we caught dolphin up to 30 lbs., sailfish, kingfish, and sharks. Other boats did about the same. Blackfin tuna are still around, and some boats were rewarded with fresh tuna steaks at the end of the day. This weekend is Fathers Day, and fishing is a great way to spend with your Dad or with your kids. Catchem up and enjoy!
