Fishing Report for Northern Miami-Dade County

Capt. Dave Kostyo
October 2, 2005
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Marco Island Wade Fishing Season is in Full Swing!

Marco wade fishing is hot! The Gulf finally settled down on Monday and massive schools of bait fish could be found all up and down the beach. During the remainder of this past week, large schools of jack crevalle and spanish mackerel were having a field day feasting on the bait fish. Snook cruised the shore line just a few feet from where we were walking and using a top water lure got us plenty of action. Throw in a few ladyfish and seatrout and you have some great fishing.

There is something for the whole family to do whether they fish or not. The shell collecting is fantastic. Numerous types of birds are nesting just feet away from where we fish, as well as, manatees and porpoise. It's a perfect opportunity to get up close to nature. After swimming in the warm Gulf of Mexico waters, there are picnic tables and grills in the park to make and enjoy lunch. And if you don't want to cook, then you can buy lunch at Todd's on the Beach.

Give me a call or email for details about setting up a guided shore trip. Remember the season (October) is a very short one, so don't delay. This is a perfect opportunity to use light tackle and learn how to work artificial baits.

Hurricane Katrina left her mark in the form of mass destruction. Many fishing guides in the Gulf area were effected. They too suffered total lose of their homes, boats, and livelyhood. Sportfishing Magazine is holding an online Hurricane Relief Auction For Gulf Coast Fisherman http://www.saltwaterreports.com There are all kinds of marine items donated by people in the fishing industry. Check out the site today and make your bids. All proceeds benefit Guide for the Gulf a non-profit group providing financial assistance to charters, guides and others within the fishing industry who are in need.
