Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
Early Sunday morning three anglers set out on the Blue Waters 2 in search of offshore fishing success. Captain John stopped at the bent range marker for live bait. With some effort, the guys were able to quill two dozen herring using sabiki rigs.
The anglers wanted to target large fish, so Capt. John positioned the Blue Waters 2 on a color change in 150 feet of water. The first sailfish bite occurred while the baits were just going out. It didn't take long for one of the enthusiastic anglers battle the sailfish right to the boat. The fish was quickly released and everyone was all smiles.
The live baits were deployed again, and almost immediately, a pod of six sailfish swam thru the baits, but none of the baits were touched. But a few seconds later, the drag on the bottom rod began to sing and the fight was on. A few minutes later a 30 lb. cobia came over the side. As if on cue, the left rigger snapped and another reel sang out - sailfish #2 was on. But this fish would not be taken so easily. Capt. John had to actually chase this fish for fear of being spooled. In the end, the angler prevailed, and again, the fish was released boat-side. Not long after a third sailfish was released to complete the trifecta.
With their mission accomplished, the happy anglers returned to the dock full smiles and memories of Miami.
