Slow Trolling Live Baits

Capt. John Barker
April 7, 2017
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

April has arrived with warm temps and good action. On several trips, the blackfin tunas have been very active in 180 to 250 ft. right off the Miami sea buoy. Several days the wind was too light for the kite so live baits were put in the outriggers and slow trolled. The bite on live bait has been a few sailfish, some mahi-mahi and the dreaded bluefish.

This year is the first in a long time when we've seen packs of bluefish headed north. Try as hard as you can to avoid the bluefish, they found the live baits and the fight was on. The customers enjoyed the action. We're looking forward to more current and the continuation of the sailfish and mahi-mahi bite.

We have some dates open so call or email us.
