Another Wahoo!

Capt. John Barker
August 19, 2014
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

A family visiting Miami from Morocco booked the Blue Waters 2 for several all-day fishing trips the last day proved to be the most productive. Captain John headed offshore in search of dolphin action - dolphin are also known as mahi-mahi or dorado.

Initial signs offshore were few. The ocean was clean - free of debris and no weed lines within sight - in other words, no signs of life. Capt. John went into trolling mode and headed back near shore. He spotted several birds working the waters and went over to investigate. There were skip jack tunas busting the water chasing bait. He went thru the action and hooked two tunas on the planer and top lines. The father and son spent over an hour reeling in tunas and having fun. The school eventually stopped eating.

John turned towards shore when the planer rod went nuts with a fish cracking and pulling line. The fishing team of father and son took turns and were rewarded with a wahoo in the boat. A few released bonitas on the reef finished the trip. The family is coming back in October to catch the fall sailfish run.
