Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Hope your turkey day is great!
Our South Florida weather continues to be on the strange side. It's almost December and we still haven't seen temperatures dip below 60 degrees let alone 70. But that should change in a few days. A pretty good cold front has been predicted to move into South Florida by late tomorrow night and that weather change should spark some interesting fishing.
Offshore waters have been too rough for me to try recently and on a few days I have had some of the offshore fishing captains fishing right next to me in Biscayne Bay. That tells you it's either too rough out in the ocean or the Bay fishing is better than the offshore fishing. It has been that rough in the ocean and the Bay fishing has been pretty good as long as you are patient.
Inshore fishing in Biscayne bay has produced a mix of Spanish mackerel, small king mackerel, small jacks and a few large ones, bluerunners, bluefish and some nice size gag groupers that are attacking our live baits and Rapala #12 X Raps.
Flamingo fishing has been interesting as well. You can slowly see a change in the fishing in Flamingo. On recent trips we have had under slot snook, slot size redfish along with some small ones, ladyfish, jacks, tripletail and the first sheepshead of the year. I have been told that the mackerel, pompano, bluefish and cobias are out in the Gulf but on my last try at those fish we didn't catch any.
I haven't fished South bay as of yet. Still waiting for water temperatures to drop a bit more.
