The Winds of Change Are Blowing

Capt. Gil Gutierrez
November 6, 2013
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

With a sharp increase in wind speeds and a falling temperature gauge it can only mean one thing and that is the Fall/Winter fishing season is about to begin. And even though this means that some of the best fishing is about to be had in the upcoming months the fishing has been good for the past couple of weeks.
The bottom bite has been very good. Most of our bottom bites have come from mutton snappers. We also had some grouper in the mix. The bottom bite should only continue to improve from here. The sailfish are starting to show up. We had a chance at one just the other day but failed to connect. If you have always wanted to catch a sailfish start planning now because the best time of year is fast approaching.
While fishing the edge we have also put some mahi-mahi in the coffin box. While the mahi-mahi have not been huge they have been gaffers.
We have also been catching some kingfish and Spanish mackerel. They have been on the small side but they are starting to come into the area and where the small kings and mackerel are the larger ones are not far behind. I have not done any tarpon trips yet so I can't report on that as of now. It is just a matter of time before they turn on and the fishing season will be off and running. Well that is all for now so please stay tuned and I will start updating my reports on a more regular basis. Right now November is booked pretty solid and I already have a bunch of days booked in December. If you would like to go fishing please give me a call and let's set something up. But please if you have a particular day that you want to fish call early so that we can try and get you the exact date you wanted. That is all for now until next tide.

Best of Luck…
