Daytona to Titusville October 2011 fishing forcast

Capt. Michael Mann
September 29, 2011
Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The water is higher now and slowly starting to clean up , over the last week the reds are moving into the flats from the deeper edges and trout are stagging on the edge of the flats in the mullet schools as well as flounder are being caught in sand holes . The water has just been clean enough for sight casting and the reds were very aggressive on shrimp and pig fish . Trout and flounder are feeding well on pig fish in the north end around the creeks and oyster bars . Slow has been the key this week in the flats move slow and take your time they are eating as long as not spooked from boats being to aggressive on the flats .

Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Forecast:

The water is higher now and slowly starting to clean up , over the next couple of weeks as the weather cools it should clean up more if past weather patterns hold true . October is the month when everything really starts to turn on in the mosquito lagoon . The mullet run is in full swing which switches just about every other game fish into feeding mode , Reds are starting to school up in small groups of 20-50 fish and starting to cruise the flats feeding and trout will start to be much more aggressive as they are feeding on schools of finger mullet . Top baits of choice in the flats are top water in mullet pattern or bone colored , swim baits as well as jerk baits in white , baby bass or new penny color, live mullet or pin shrimp for sight casting . Now for the near shore guys the tarpon are fallowing the mullet and other bait pods south and are working the bait pods as well as the Kings and the cobia will be following these as well . Look behind the shrimp boats for tarpon and sharks and in the bait pods for cobia , tarpon , Kings and Bonita .
